Aged care worker moved mother to facility where she works in time for mother’s day

Mother’s Day is a time to show our mothers how much we love and appreciate them. This year, Debbie Mutton, a team leader at Killarney Court aged care home, showed her mother Jeanette Tuck, known as Jeanie, the ultimate Mother’s Day gift by moving her from an aged care home in Kempsey to Killarney Court.

Jeanie had been living at the Kempsey facility for the past three years, but she was unhappy there and wanted to be closer to her family on the Central Coast. Having worked at Killarney Court since January 2019, Debbie was familiar with the high-quality care provided at her workplace so was quick to recommend it to her mother.

“Since starting work at Killarney Court over four years ago, I have always been impressed with the quality of care that is provided,” Debbie said. “The staff are kind, compassionate, and go above and beyond to make sure that the residents are comfortable and happy. I am so grateful that my mother is able to live at Killarney Court,” she continued.

Jeanie has been living at Killarney Court for six weeks now and is very happy with her decision to move.

“I love living here – the staff are kind and compassionate, the food is delicious, and I enjoy the company of the other residents. I also appreciate the fact that I have a private room with a fridge and kitchenette, as well as outdoor access,” Jeanie said.

The biggest benefit for Jeanie living at Killarney Court, however, is that she is much closer to her family. Furthermore, she gets to see her daughter Debbie every time Debbie is at work.

“I’m grateful to be close to my family again. It’s wonderful to see my daughter Debbie multiple times a week. She’s a bright light in my life,” Jeanie explained.

Jeanie felt particularly grateful for this on the weekend, as COVID-19 has prevented her from spending time with her family on Mother’s Day for the past three years.

“I missed my family during the pandemic, and I cherish our time together, so it was wonderful to spend time with them this weekend,” she concluded.

In addition to spending time with her family for Mother’s Day, Jeanie attended a Mother’s Day Garden Party with the other residents of Killarney Court in the home’s beautiful garden. Together they enjoyed sweet treats, games and making new memories.
